Gourock Amphitheatre

THE WORKS:

The site was situated within an existing public park in Gourock, which contained a dilapidated terraced amphitheatre, and a small children's play area with various items of play equipment installed. The works were immediately adjacent to a council run pet farm, and access to the site was restricted by narrow entrance gates.

The works consisted of some site clearance and tree removal, followed by demolition of the existing terrace and seating, and replacement with new, after an earthworks operation to regrade the site. A fabric roofed bandstand was installed, with lighting, on a contractor designed foundation. The play equipment was refurbished or replaced, and new play surface laid to the surrounding area.  Existing roads and footpaths were replaced or upgraded, and minor drainage works undertaken.
