THE WORKS:

The scope included remodelling of existing kerblines, relaying granite setts to side streets, renewing footpath surfaces with Caithness stone slabbing, relocating street-lighting and street furniture, and replacement of road surfacing with subsequent application of anti-skid and road marking.  As a separte package, civil engineering works were undertaken for the reconfiguration of the traffic signals.  As extensive traffic management was required, the works were suspended for the duration of the Edinburgh Festival.
