SIR ALEX FERGUSON OFFICIALLY OPENS ERDC FIELDTURF TARKETT PITCH AT PARTINGTON SPORTS VILLAGE

Just a month after officially opening ERDC's Harmony Row pitch in Glasgow, Sir Alex Ferguson visits the brand new state of the art facility at Partington Leisure Centre declaring its new community sport site open - ERDC were appointed to construct a new FieldTurf Tarkett 3G pitch complete with fencing and floodlighting.

Sir Alex said: ''I am delighted to see these first class sports facilities open on the doorstep of Old Trafford, especially as they are in an area of high deprivation which desperately needs sports provision. The Partington Sports Village at Broadoak School will now be an important hub for the community, where football and a range of sports can take place. I want to congratulate the school on making this happen, alongside the other key partners, including the Football Foundation, the Manchester County FA and Sport England. It is great to see Premier League money combining with FA and Government money through the Football Foundation, to help rebuild this country’s community sports sites". The Manchester United Foundation, who are making full use of the pitch, are supporting the operation of the facility and were demonstrating their coaching skills with pupils on the day.

Tarun Kapur, Executive Head Teacher of Broadoak School, said: ''This is a massive step forward for the community of Partington. We are proud to be able to provide world class facilities not only for the local people but for the whole of Trafford''.

ERDC wish to thank Trafford Council for working so closely with us again to ensure the successful delivery of the project and also wish Partington Sports Village, Broadoak School and the community many successful years ahead.
